This Iraq War Veteran Wants to ‘Redeploy’ to Fight ISIS

“Our primary mission is to liberate Iraq.”

That’s a tall order, even for the world’s greatest armies. But Jacksonville, Fla., resident Sean Rowe thinks he can help achieve it. Rowe is founder of Veterans Against ISIS, a group of volunteers “deploying” against the Islamic State. They aim to travel to the Middle East and fight side-by-side with local militias to stop the encroaching “caliphate.”

I sat down with Sean Rowe, founder of the group Veterans Against ISIS, to ask him about the risks of undertaking such a dangerous mission and to find out what drives the Iraq war veteran to return to battle.

Check out my profile of Rowe here, in Esquire magazine.
