This is the portfolio website for Allison Griner, a freelance multimedia journalist.
I am drawn to international issues, human rights reporting, environmental topics and questions of cultural diversity.
My passion for journalism has taken me across the world. In China, my colleagues and I investigated the piles of garbage plaguing the world’s largest population, and I filed a report on China’s online environmentalists for PRI’s Living on Earth. In Canada, I joined members of the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation in a sacred sweat lodge, as they prayed for the health of their community. And off the shores of the Florida Keys, I rode with spear-wielding divers as they culled invasive lionfish from the tropical reefs.
I’ve been humbled by all the personal stories shared with me. One woman talked to me about growing up in a Japanese-American internment camp. Another told me of her family’s fight to regain control of her grandfather’s Nazi-looted artwork. And in 2014, I found myself at the scene of a deadly school shooting, talking to the shaken survivors.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my work!
